Pre Retirement Financial Awareness – will cover, pension resources, features and benefits of the NHS Pension Scheme and the State Pension Scheme, applying for you SPPA (Scottish Public Pension Agency) pension, budget planning and other financial issues to be considered in the planning and preparation for retirement. Currently the content of the course relates to staff who are retiring and are members of the 1995 scheme however we are also able to accomodate staff who are members of the 2008 scheme and in time we will accomodate staff who are affected by the 2015 scheme

Raising your awareness of the financial impact of retirement and encouraging financial confidence through increased knowledge and understanding of the following areas :-

  • Protecting your money from all forms of tax, inflation and poor decisions
  • Maximising income in retirement and budget planning
  • Helping you understand investment risk and reward
  • Financial planning for the rest of your life and for your family or beneficiaries
  • Raising your awareness of information resources and planning tools.
  • Raising your awareness of SPPA resources and Online Member Services.
  • Calculating your pension and tax free lump sum benefits.
  • Raising your awareness of the retirement application process.
  • Calculating your entitlement to the state pension
  • Raising your awareness of income tax and your pension income
  • Raising your awareness of the Phased Retirement Policy
  • Returning to work post-retirement
  • To support staff during the early stages of considering retirement issues.
